New from Hunter Douglas
Top-down, bottom-up honeycomb shades are back in Canada
As of 6 October 2026, Hunter Douglas has released its top-down, bottom-up Duette honeycomb shades again, so we can finally sell them. Before COVID, they were the most popular shade there was.

How it works
A regular shade has one moving bar, at the bottom. A top-down, bottom-up shade has a second bar at the top, and each bar moves on its own. Lower the top, raise the bottom, or do both, and the shade stays where you leave it.

Top down
Lower the top bar to let in the sun, the sky or the moon, with privacy below.
Bottom up
Raise the bottom bar a little so a dog or cat can look out.
Both
Keep privacy in the middle, with light coming in above and below.
What's new
For the last three years, the only top-down, bottom-up shade we could sell had a clear sheer across the top. These are the regular honeycomb fabric with nothing across the top.
They were taken off the market in Canada earlier because of child safety. The new ones were made with that in mind and passed Canada's Health regulations, which is why they're back.

Before: clear sheer on top
You can see through the sheer, but the view looks different from open glass.

Now: open on top
Nothing across the top, so the view is clear.
The benefits of honeycomb
Honeycomb shades are made of rows of small air pockets. The trapped air slows heat passing through the window, so a home stays snug when it's cold and cool when it's hot. Add light and privacy exactly where you want them, and it's the most versatile shade there is.
- Air pockets that insulate
- Soaks up some sound
- Many fabrics over 50% recycled
- Two cell sizes, ¾ inch and 1¼ inch
